A Little About Me
I was raised in Houston, TX by immigrants from East Africa. As a black therapist and child of immigrants, I recognize how important it is to find a therapist who understands non-Western cultures and approaches to therapy.
Through my work as a therapist, I'm especially equipped to work with clients seeking support for childhood trauma, emotional/physical abuse, and religious harm. I am also skilled in treating clients experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, first and second generation cultural issues, and relationship issues.
Through the use of IFS (Internal Family Systems), EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy), and EMDR, I help clients foster healthy relationships, improve self-confidence, and live a life that aligns with their values.
I aim to create a space where my clients feel safe to show up as their most authentic selves. I have found that the relationship between clients and therapists works best when built on genuine acceptance, mutual trust, and compassionate accountability. I believe that everyone deserves access to healing spaces—including those who have been marginalized due to their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or any other aspect of their identity.
Outside of work, you'll likely find me watching a soccer game and cheering on the Washington Spirit or Liverpool. I love hosting people at home over good food and coffee. (Most people would call me a coffee snob — and they're not wrong.) If the Great British Baking Show has been on lately, I've probably attempted something from it. Keyword: attempted.
